En usko että Suomen hinnoista on tietoa kun ei edes normi Golf R hinta ole vielä Suomi hinnoiteltu. Skodan tehomallista en tarkemmin tiedä. On huhuttu Bonneville mallista missä olisi lähemmäs 300 hv, toki 100 vähemmän kun VW:ssa. Tuo 400 hv Golf tulee maksamaan paljon Suomessa, jos sitä ylipäätänsä tuodaan tänne.

Kun kerrankin sattui olemaan aikaa keskellä viikkoa niin kävinpä piruuttani täällä paikallisessa VW shop:ssa kyselemässä, notta milloin tätä 400 heppaista Golffia oikein pääsisi ihastelemaan. Vastassa oli enimmäkseen hölmistyneitä katseita . Lopputulos hetken selvittelyn (myyjän soitto ensin myyntijohtajalle ja sitten myyntijohtajan pyynnöstä maahantuojalle) jälkeen oli kuitenkin se, ettei täällä ole tiedossa mitään päätöstä tämän konseptin tuotantoon menosta, saati maahan tulosta. Tokihan on mahdollisuus, etteivät halua kertoa totuutta syystä tai toisesta. Aika pieni on tälle kuitenkin todennäköisyys, se kun olisi aika huono tapa tehdä kauppaa.

Volkswagen insiders have confirmed there is a desire within the company to put the potent Golf R400 concept into production - but only if "cost implications to the engineering changes" can be overcome.

The R400, a 395bhp all-wheel-drive hot hatch based on the Golf R, was seen at the Beijing motor show last month. It has a highly tuned 2.0-litre turbo engine and six-speed manual gearbox.

The main production challenge is understood to come from finding a gearbox suitable to handle the R400’s 332lb ft torque output. VW also wants an automatic option to give the model greater global appeal. The Golf R’s six-speed DSG ’box is only rated for torque loads of up to 280lb ft.

VW announced last week that it would be producing a 10-speed DSG for its more powerful models that can cope with up to 369lb ft. It is this gearbox that is most likely to provide the solution to the cost and engineering questions posed by a production R400.

The Golf R400 concept car was originally shown to display the firm's engineering prowess, as well as the range of customisation options open to its customers. If given the green light for production, the new model would do battle with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, BMW M235i and Audi's upcoming second-generation RS3.
